I am embarrassed to say that we did not go camping ONCE this summer. The pool consumed every ounce of spare time that we had. However, we were able to get away for one, impromptu day in the mountains! So packed up the car and headed towards Mt. Evans.
But first, we had to stop in Idaho Springs for Beaujo's Pizza. I don't think we were supposed to go inside this train, but the door was open (it was being worked on) so we helped ourselves so that we could catch a good photo or two!
After lunch we jumped back in the car. We quickly learned that the road to Mt. Evans was under construction and was closed. So, we hung around Echo Lake instead.
This girls got to purchase a gift from the lodge.
We did a little hiking and took in God's creation!
The girls got to do a little rock climbing as well.
This was nothing close to the fun of a good old camping trip, but we were glad to be able to get out of the city for a few hours. Next year we'll have to make up for our lack of planning!
