Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Last night, we headed to Coors Field to watch the Colorado Rockies play the Arizona Diamondbacks. The girls were very excited about going to the game. We didn't go to any games last year and neither of them could remember the last game that we all attended. We were all excited! We packed some sandwiches and snacks and headed downtown.
The girls, especially Abigail, were overwhelmed (in a good way) by the size of the ball field, all of the fans, and all that was going on around us!

Little Rockies fans!

Our original seats were in the rock pile. However, after getting settled, we were approached by the Toyota promotions team who gave us a chance to sit down in the Toyota Tailgate section. We were given a Troy Tulowitzki autographed baseball, a bunch of classic ball park snacks (peanuts and cracker jacks), game-day programs, and some fancy patio furniture to enjoy the game from!
We basically had our own private section above the bull pin where we could want the pitchers warming up and where we were able to see the fountains rise after a home run.
We also had 15 seconds of fame on the jumbo screen.

Nate took the girls for some cotton candy!
Sugar!!!

We took our pictures with Dinger! Abigail was so happy to have met Dinger and was heart broken when she dropped his autographed photo into the bull pin. It really put a damper on her night.
It's not a ball game without hot dogs and beers!

Abby's time was occupied while she was stuffing loads and loads of peanuts in her coat pockets! She's like a little squirrel.

Elizabeth spent some time with Nate learning about the game of baseball. She has a lot to learn but she will pick it all up when she starts tee ball in June.
And then, Abigail was tired so it was time to go home. So, we hiked back to the parking garage and headed home.

We expected to have a great time, but we were pleasantly surprised by all of the special treats! The Tulo ball is awesome and, to top it all off, we got home in time to see the Rockies beat the Diamondbacks, 5-4 in the 10th inning.

"1st Grade, 1st Grade!"

They always tell you that you'll blink your eye and your daughter will be graduating, getting married, and having her own daughters. It's true: I blinked and my oldest daughter finished the Kindergarten. This week has been filled with classroom visits and 1st Grade and Preschool teacher introductions. Our girls are both "school-aged" and I don't know where the time went.
Today we attended Elizabeth's Author's Tea where the kids performed songs and each read a book that they wrote and illustrated in the classroom.
Farewell Kindergarten and hello 1st Grade!
The full day Kindergarten and AM Kindergarten classes worked on their songs together!
I am having a hard time uploading the video, but the kids did a great job!

Elizabeth is such a star! She is usually very shy and reserved but she stood up there today like a natural!

Kindergarten Song-VIDEO

After the kids performed their songs, they broke up into smaller groups and the kids each read their stories to the group of kids and parents. Elizabeth's titled her story, Super Sheep Saves the Animals.
Super Sheep saw the bad wolf.
Super Sheep was inside. Bad Wolf was outside.
Super Sheep was fighting the bad wolf in the barn.
The bad wolf got hurt. Super Sheep took him home.

One of the parents asked Elizabeth, "What does Super Sheep do with the bad wolf when he takes him home?" Elizabeth responded, "I haven't figured that out yet."
After all of the kids read their stories, they were given their binders to show their families. The binders have drawings and writing samples form the beginning to the end of the school year. I will forever cherish the book and the binder!
Then we all went inside for snacks and socializing!

Elizabeth had such a great year of learning and growing. Ms. Orrill and Mrs. Tombari were such wonderful teachers and role models in Elizabeth's life! I am grateful for all that they do for our children.

Quality Time with Abigail

I wish that I had more one-on-one time with each of my girls. Now that the semester is over for me, I had a chance to take Abigail to the Streets of SouthGlenn for some quality time! We visited the fountain and took some photos.
Abigail has the sweetest personality and it shows in these photos. Always a ball of energy, Abby is so very caring and curious about the world.

We studied each penny very meticulously before making a wish and tossing it into the fountain.
Abby asked, "Do you think that my wishes will come true?"
Her imagination gives way to wishes for unicorns and no more time outs!

My little baby Abby is no longer so little any longer! At the end of the summer, I will send her off to full-day preschool which Abby is so very excited about!

Since classes won't start again until mid August, I so look forward to spending more quality time with my growing girls this summer!

Spring and Summer Garden Club

This spring and summer, the girls have the opportunity to participate in Peabody's Garden Club. At our first meeting last week, the girls were taught how to read seed packets and to recognize how far apart to plant seeds, how long it takes them to sprout, and how much sunlight they each need. They also taught the kids about the different types of edible seeds and let them each try seeds from sesame to pomegranate to sunflower seeds.
They the kids got to head out to the garden to plant some flowers in the beds.
Then we got to weed!!! They learned how to pull up the roots. They will be busy pulling weeds for me this summer now that they know how :)

It wouldn't be right if Elizabeth hadn't stopped to strike a pose!

We look forward to more gardening this summer. In the fall we will harvest the plants and sell them to the community!

Celebrating Six Years of Motherhood

Every year, for the last three years, I have had to work on Mother's Day. So, I go to work (all smiles of course) and then we head over to my Mom's house so that I can visit with my own Mom and Grandma!

I played some horseshoes with Michael and he wouldn't even let me win...some Mother's Day!
These are a couple of silly girls. I am proud to say that they are mine.
Grandma and Mom (Great-Grandma and Ya Ya).

Aunt Sharon, myself, Grandma, Mom and Great-Aunt Betty.

Nate helped the girls pick out a card and a lovely plant that we will so excitedly bring to our new home at the end of June.

It's a bummer to have to work on Mother's Day every year, but I still had the afternoon to relax and enjoy the company of my family. I am am tickled pink to be the proud parent of two beautiful, happy, and healthy little girls!

The Zach Brown Band and Red Solo Cups

We all knew that it would be wet and cold, but we were all very excited about going to the Zach Brown Band concert up at Red Rocks. We zipped up our ponchos and packed some snacks.

I make it sound like like life is so hard....it's not! Dana treated the group to a limo ride to and from the show! Because of traffic, we spent about two hours "tailgating" in the limo before the show!
Cheri made Red Solo Cups for each of us!

They were awesome!!!
 We even had some bubbly!
Jen Swalley and I in the limo!
Jen, Dana, and Cheri on one end.
Chris, Nate and myself on the opposite end.
We waited in line for a short bit once we got there. It drizzled for a short bit, but as soon as the show started, the rain stopped! It was perfect!

More waiting in line, in the rain.
 And more waiting in line.
Might as well show off our boots while waiting in line! (Thanks Jen, you're awesome!)
The cheese and crackers weren't quite enough, so we picked up some hot dogs once we got inside.
Old buddies, ready for a show!

And then...my phone died! I don't have the photos to show, but we had such a wonderful night. It's been a long time since I have had sooo much fun! Sean and Wintre weren't able to catch the limo ride, but they met us at the show. Thanks Dana for the limo ride and thanks friends for being so much fun!
