As mentioned in my previous post, I'm about six months behind on my blog. And so, each of my lovely daughters will be showcased (don't see this as a bulk post for the sake of time ;) in their own post! I start with Elizabeth, my charming eldest who keeps growing, growing, growing...
One of Elizabeth's latest (pre-summer) pieces of art.
I think that blue is her color!
Girl Scouts has been an amazing experience for Elizabeth! She has had the opportunity to do so many things that kids don't normally get to do! She learned a little bit out the cookie business this past year and became a little entrepreneur, selling roughly 240 boxes of cookies!
Elizabeth won a ton of prizes camp was entirely paid for!
It's the small moments in the perfect light that I will forever be grateful for!
In the spring, we participated in the Epilepsy Foundation Awareness walk. We did a 5K walk, which took us about two hours! We stopped to smell the roses every once in a while. Ya-Ya joined us to help support Elizabeth and all kids fighting against epilepsy. Seeing masses gathering for a cause close to your heart is both overwhelming and extremely encouraging. Elizabeth fights the good fight and I think that the race was good for her spirit! We plan to repeat in the years to come.
Who is this? Doesn't look like my eight year old...
And this girl?
She could be wearing her wedding gown and would still want to stop to splash in the water!
And to play with the bugs!
In preparation for third grade, the girls and I spent a day together getting our hair cut and shopping for school clothes and supplies. I remember the day ending and being completely exhausted (and broke). It's fun to look back on the memory. If I look at the day from the girls' eyes, it was a fun day with Mom preparing for the school year. These special moments are never lost on our children.
I am constantly in awe of how big Elizabeth is getting. She just looks like a different person!
And of course, the summer wouldn't have been complete without hours and hours and hours of pool time! It has been such a pleasure watching all of the kids grow-up together and to build such fond memories.
Only a few weeks into school, Elizabeth was off to Girl Scout camp. Elizabeth went to the YMCA in Estes Park for an entire weekend. Letting her go (without me, despite an invitation for myself) was not easy. But, we knew that she was ready to have this adventure on her own. We were so proud of her for taking on the challenge and embarking on such a rewarding experience.
Our time in Boulder continued as the CU football season began. Elizabeth joined the group for the CU vs. Oregan game. Despite a Buffs loss (and Elizabeth falling asleep on my lap during the game) she had a great time. I think that being in Boulder is a good experience for her, in hopes that one day she will join the CU Alumni!
Again, it's the right light in the right moment!
Looking back, just over a six month period, Elizabeth has grown so very much! She's always pushing the envelope and making her Mom and Dad proud!
