KPP: Our Home Away from Home

When I decided that I would take on the role of President at Kings Point Pool, I was eager to get to know the ins-and-outs of the pool operations and more than anything, I was eager to get to better know our community members. The pool has been a big part of our lives for the past three summers and we were happy to contribute our time.
The routine maintenance had to be done and although there were only a few guys who showed up, they worked together, and worked hard, and pulled it off! The pool opened on time and we even had a new volleyball court to top it off!
And time was certainly contributed...
Often times in the moment, frustrations can overcome your ability to embrace and really inhale a moment in time. Looking back, I can say that every drop of sweat, every splinter, every minute, and every tear (yes, tears are inevitable when you're running a business on borrowed time and at the mercy of volunteers) was worth it. Nate and I, and our girls have gained invaluable memories and friendships from being a part of our pool and that's well-worth it all!

Darrel and Dan narrow the painting down to the final surface area. It was a very, very rainy start to our year. So rainy that it was nearly impossible to keep the pool dry enough, long enough to get it painted. These guys are literally working in between rain clouds.
And to see a community come together, not because of the financial investment, but because of a profound sense of pride dedication is rewarding in itself.

Our girls anxiously await the filling of the pool, a process that would take two solid days of running water!
And the final results are so very inviting!
Their patience paid off as they were the first to swim in the pool this year.
It was a cold start to the year and our fire pit got its share of use.
As we got farther into the summer, the weather stayed warmer more consistently. It actually turned out to be a great summer--just enough sunshine! Here are some fun shots from opening weekend.

This photo sums up the night of our Annual Adult Party. The event deserves its own post!
The final days of swimming were upon us. As much as I love the pool, I was ready to close up for the year, but not before showing our volunteers our thanks by providing pizza and one final opportunity to swim!

Here are some extra photos...just to keep you hanging on until next season.

The pool was our home-away-from-home for the 2015 season. It was hard work and time consuming for the board and our volunteers. I cannot express my thanks for the countless hours that went into making this pool season a huge success, in more ways than one.

I look forward to what the 2016 pool season brings!
