Three preseason games into the 2013-14 NFL football season, the 5280 Girls Fantasy Football League participants gathered for another draft pick.
It's interesting talking to our husbands because their draft party is incredibly different from our own. We bring an assortment of Pinterest foods to share and we even have
this fancy mug for the previous years champion to drink from!
We even have a mascot! This year, baby Auggie was there to support the league!
In order to avoid conflicts with the men's draft night, we decided that a Friday night would work best. We all rushed home from our jobs, threw together our snacks, and crammed our drafting studies in the minutes before the draft began.
Not only is Dana our wonderful League Commissioner, she wears many other masks as well. Here, she is draftee, commissioner (keeping time for each pick), and baby whisperer...not to mention, a joy to be around!

Even though Julie could care less about football, she always come by the draft pick to enjoy the company and conversation. As you can see, Julie is about to pop and she is spending quality time with her nephew before she is obligated to hold her own!
Lindsay is not only last year's champion, she gets the Rock Star Mom of the Year Award as well! Baby Auggie is only three days old in this photo. The only reason Lindsay would have missed the draft was if she was in the hospital. It worked out wonderfully for her! She sat at the head of the table, rocked her championship stein and rocked her baby while drafting a pretty awesome fantasy football team.

This year, some friends had to leave our league. JJ and her team, Somewhere Over Dwayne Bowe, Jenn Luck and her Sneezy Unicorns, and Gwen and Lots of Bush were unable to play this year. We welcomed back Sandra who always brings a great team to the table. Also, we were excited to have Jayne and Sarah join us around the draft board this year!

And the final results.
I think that each of us would say that our own team is the best. But, mine really is the best!!! I was #1 draftee this year.
It's going to be a fun year of Fantasy Football. I am very excited for a year of trash talking, football watching, and camaraderie.
Not sure why I haven't commented on this already, but draft night was fun! Maybe SOME year, we will all have a dance party! That will be a new rule if I am the champ :)
