Over the years of parenting, I have learned many lessons. One of which is letting-go of my parenting instincts for the sake of enjoying the otherwise mundane task of painting. Giving my children paint brushes and interior wall-paint over a carpeted floor can certainly create a high amount of anxiety.
I did my best to let go a little bit and let my girls enjoy the task of painting their very own bedrooms.
For weeks, the girls had been planning the colors for their bedrooms. And for days following our move, they had been asking (or more so begging) to paint.
Elizabeth chose blue. I told the girls that they could take a paint brush and paint the wall however they saw fit, but that they had to understand that I would be painting over their creations.
We dated the wall and took a photo before painting over their masterpieces.
I was surprised that Abigail wasn't coated from head-to-toe in paint. She did a great job.
Abigail chose purple.
Elizabeth wasn't feeling great, so she sat this one out.
Abigail has been such a big girl in her new room. We were very concerned that the transition from a shared room, to her very own room would be difficult. Abby loves her new room and we haven't had any issues so far.
We had fun and I was glad that I let go loose a little bit.
The rooms look great! The girls did a good job choosing colors...you're inspiring me to do something with our kids rooms. And making me see that purple, which I know Payton will choose, isn't so bad! :)
