Every year, Christ Community puts on a Christmas lunch and program. While the afternoon of events helps to raise funds for the high school kids to attend Camp Elem, it's an wonderful opportunity for us to enjoy the holiday in the way it is meant to be so! Over the past couple of years, Elizabeth and Abigail have been able to participate with the Children's Church group! This year, Caleb got to join the group on stage as well!
Kory Franken put together a beautiful meal and desert dishes. What a big job! The kids at Christ Community are blessed to have her in their corner.
The kids ran around the gym with one another waiting for the program to begin.
The Hot Chocolate cupcakes (with marshmallow icing) were a hit with the VanDusseldorp children!
The kids performed three or four songs between play skits!
After the first song, the kids came back out dressed in angle wings and halos. Clearly Abby is a mischievous angle! She's up to no good, I can tell by her sneaky grin!
Angle Caleb and his Mommy!
Abby isn't always up to no good. She sits here quietly waiting for her chance to get back up on stage!
Abigail telling Caleb to be quiet!
And then Santa visiting the children at Christ Community!
Abigail was ecstatic (and even that is an understatement). She saw Santa walk through the doors and she nearly jumped out of her skin. She ran up to Santa and gave him a huge hug!
While Elizabeth still believe in Jolly Old St. Nick, she knows better than to think that "real Santa" visited Christ Community today. We attempted to set her story straight, but she is a smart girl!
The Christmas program is another piece of the holiday season that brings us so much joy! Especially in light of the recent events in Connecticut, we are so grateful that our tiny little blessings are here to bring us Christmas joy. Life through their eyes is so innocent, sweet, and enduring. We thank God for children and pray for those who cannot be together this holiday season.
