Christmas is quickly approaching and each week is jam packed with exciting crafts and events! We started our Christmas countdown. Our winter friends now tell us that there are only 22 days left!
We finished decorating our home. Nathan's Grandma makes these beautiful snowflakes and gifts a few every year. We have collected so many that I was able to make a window decoration out of them (in addition to those on the tree). Adds a nice, subtle touch to the living room window.
Nate put the finishing touches up on the house and it now lights up our block!
Elizabeth wrote her letter to Santa. She spent a lot of time creating colorful bubble letters!
She addressed the letter to the North Pole, stamped it, and put it in the mailbox. I asked a mail carrier if they actually take the letters to Santa. She says, yes, they will take anything with paid postage and those to Santa will make it to him my Christmas Eve!
Banjo found a friend in the chaos of the decorating.
I actually had a day off this weekend, so we went to Englewood's Annual Holiday Parade. The parade really isn't a big deal, but it has a special place in my heart because I attended every year when I was little! My parents, brother and I actually lived on the very same block that I live on now! The parade has always been a block away from home. We walked up the street and found a corner spot.
I think that we arrived a little too early...so we had a photo shoot while Nate walked around with Banjo.
Our little super model!
A nice woman offered to take our picture!
Abby made fast friends with this rock! She brought it home, washed it, and still carried it around!
The Englewood marching band.
Banjo was very interested, so she and Nate had to stay a ways back from the street.
A John Deer tractor...
...an FJ hauling a Christmas tree...
...a modern Ecto-mobile...
...and Santa on a fire truck!
The parade was great. Abby quickly yelled out what she wants for Christmas. We walked home with ridiculous amounts of parade candy and two tired monkeys!
We also kicked off the advent season this weekend. Pastor Bruce (AKA Grandpa) invited Elizabeth to light the advent candle at church this week! She was very excited. I had to miss it for work, so Grandma took a special picture for me!
The girls stuffed, and rearranged, and re-stuffed the advent calendar with candy!
More Christmas to come!!!!
