This year (through the power of suggestion) Abby wanted to have a Halloween Birthday party. I have always wanted to have a kiddie-Halloween gathering and this was the perfect way to fulfill my desire!
With the Halloween stores open at the end of September, it gave us the opportunity to get our Halloween costume shopping out of the way! Abby decided she would be Strawberry Shortcake and Elizabeth, after about 15 minutes of staring at the great-wall of costumes, chose a Monster High cat-skeleton, something-or-other!
I did most of the decorating the night before because I had to work the day of the party. I left the rest in the hands of Mr. Mom! Nate was so awesome in pulling off the pumpkin-shaped PB and J sandwiches, household chores and last minute preparations.
My husband is a rock star!
I'm not thrilled about cakes because you have to cut them, adding to the stress of the event, but I could resist this green Frankenstein cake!
Our little Strawberry Shortcake/Birthday girl!
"To infinity and beyond!"
Ty dressed as a hugable police officer.
"Hankerina!" (I'm sure he'll love this photo when he's in high school.
Elizabeth, the cat/skeleton girl, Shae-Cleopatra and Doc McReily
Batman and his muscles. (It's Many Wayne behind the bat mask!)
Baby Ava.
Darby and her hot-pink tutu.
Captain America couldn't stay away from the snack table.
After the kids had all arrived, we set off to trick-or-treat our predetermined route. All of our new neighbors were amazing. I dropped off candy before the party and they agreed to be at their houses during the half-hour window.
Valerie (behind us) even went and picked up some extra candy!
Cora and Abigail trick-or-treated hand-in-hand. I was glad they had the opportunity to trick-or-treat together because I think both the Amann and VanDusseldorp families will be knocking on doors in our own, new, neighborhoods for this year's Halloween.
Anita, our neighbor to the West gladly handed out candy and even dressed her pup in his costume!
Yvonne was our next stop and she delivered candy to all of the kids, including her Grandson Kris.
Luann, our neighbor to the East was also entertained the kids.
More hand holding from these two!
Our last stop was at Dan and Julie's--our favorite neighbors that happen to be family!
Miles is a classy vampire (he could easily act along side Brad Pitt).
Abby blew out her four candles as everybody sang "Happy Birthday!"
We ended the evening watching football with baby Owen and his glow-in-the-dark skeleton costume!
Abby had so much fun dressing in costume, dancing to spooky Halloween tunes, filling up on candy, trick-or-treating hand-in-hand with Cora, and opening gifts!
Now Abby is officially four!
