Every year, on the day after Thanksgiving, we set up and decorate our Christmas tree. Years ago we gave up on real trees, we were infamous for killing them before the second week of advent! Last year we purchased a nice, pre-lit tree--which makes the process a bit easier. The rest of the tradition flies by when the girls crack open the boxes of ornaments!
We alternate the task of tree-topper every year. Before we know it, the girls will be too big to be hoisted up to the top of the tree!
We pulled out the bubble lights to show the girls what they were all about.
They're such a fire hazard, so they never made it on the tree.
Traditionally, Saturday brings the lights to the house! (Although, Nate would argue that traditionally we do the lights on Friday...he might be right...but I like having more daylight, so this may be a new tradition!)
Another change in tradition is the color of our lights. Nate insisted this year that we switched from the Cool White LED lights to the Warm White LED lights. We hit Sam's Club for the fancy C9 lights (inspired by the Syers family) and replaced our bluish-white lights the soft glow that now adorns Fair Place. Hopefully he doesn't change his mind next year!
Elizabeth was allowed to carefully crawl around on the roof while Nate and I were up there. My heart can only take so much worry, so that didn't last long.
Roozing always helps Nate put up the lights. I think that Nate made Chris wear the Griswold Family Christmas t-shirt.
The final product. There will be more to come next year!
I love the innocence that children bring at Christmas time.
We put up the advent calendar and filled it with candy!
And we hung the stockings by the chimney with care!
