Summertime Fun: Tiny Town or Bust

I haven't taken the summer off from school in three years! This year, we are taking advantage of all of Mom's free time. Each week, I would like to do something fun and unique. Colorado is such a beautiful place to live and there are so many places that have gone unexplored!

Today, our summertime fun took us to Tiny Town!
Tiny Town or Bust! Abigail calls it Little City!

There were a few dutch windmills throughout the little city! In fact, a lot of the attractions at Tiny Town reminded me of places you can still find in Dutch towns like Pella, IA.

The police station. This was one of the few buildings that the kids could actually go into.

Creating sepia colored photos makes them almost look like real photos form the early 1900's!

Little red schoolhouse.

There were also a number of churches that could be found throughout our adventure.

Abby in a tiny house!

Elizabeth is almost too big for the tiny houses!

The Opera House was two stories so Elizabeth could stand inside!

Tiny Town prison! Most of the buildings are based around those that can be found throughout Colorado. This prison was originally built in downtown Denver off of Colfax and Colorado and held roughly 350 prisoners.

After walking around the heat for a while, we needed an ice cream cone break!

Then we purchased tickets for the train ride!

The girls patiently waited at the depot for their chance to ride.

According to the train conductor, tiny town originally started as a young girls play area! Her father was a very busy man and the young girl was lonely so he built her a "tiny town" for her to play with. Some of the original houses can be seen along the train route.

I am a sucker for Gone with the Wind. This is a replica of the O'hara Plantation!

A Coors refrigerated train car.

There were cool replicas of Colorado mines that we saw along the train route.

White Fence Farms!
The girls had a great time visiting "little city" but we were all beat by the time we made it back home! We talked about visiting the train museum for a special adventure next week!
